The Super Eagles are looking forward to their upcoming friendlies as well as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to William Troost-Ekong.

Following their failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Super Eagles are hoping to establish a new chapter under Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro.

Troost-Ekong and his teammates are scheduled to play Mexico and Ecuador in two friendly matches.

Next month, Peseiro's charges will play back-to-back games against Sierra Leone's Leone Stars and Guinea-Djurtus Bissau's in a bid to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of NationsZ.

Troost-Ekong noted that the team has moved on from their World Cup defeat and is ready to compete once more.

“We all arrived from a long trip here in Dallas. It was amazing to meet the coach and the new coaching crew, "the Watford defender told NFF TV.
“Training was good; it is great to see there are lots of home-based players here as well who have the chance to show themselves." Everyone is in good spirit and we are waiting for one or two more late arrivals. We are preparing well for the game against Mexico.
“It has been a tough few months for all of us. It’s a big heartache, but we have to keep on moving." When you fall down, you have to stand up again. This team has been down before and come back, and I believe we will do it again.
“So it’s great to be up for these friendly games and a chance to play in the AFCON qualifiers in the next few weeks. That would be a great chance for us to refresh and refocus ourselves and the focus would be on the next AFCON.”
The former Udinese player also thanked the fans for their support and also appealed to them not to relent.
“I have to say a big thank you to the fans, I will ask them and encourage them to stay behind team; we all know how much it means for us. We really appreciate your support, so please stay behind the team,” he added.
