Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been honored as the 'Best African International Footballer' at the Ghana Football Awards.
Lookman received this recognition for his outstanding performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire and his impressive season with Serie A club Atalanta. The 27-year-old forward scored three goals in seven games, helping the Super Eagles secure a second-place finish in the tournament.
Additionally, Lookman played a crucial role in Atalanta's UEFA Europa League success, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen, leading La Dea to a 3-0 victory. Over the season, he registered 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Lookman surpassed his international teammate Victor Osimhen and Burkinabe star Edmund Tapsoba to claim this prestigious award, further cementing his status as a top talent in African football.
