Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has highlighted the importance of Koulibaly Koulibaly at the club.
The German believes that his Senegalese import is a "brilliant signing", coming in with "quality and experience" to his defence at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea announced at the weekend that they had completed a £33m deal for Koulibaly, with the 31-year-old signing a four-year deal in west London.
Koulibaly made 317 appearances for Napoli in almost a decade he spent with the Italian side.
Having allowed Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave the club this summer, Tuchel was desperate to bolster his defensive options.
“He [Koulibaly] brings experience, quality, top defending quality, height, and everything we’re looking for to play a back three or four,” Tuchel told Chelsea media while discussing the Senegalese.
“It’s another brilliant signing for us and we hope he can show his quality as soon as possible." He’s now training outside; he arrived yesterday.
“It’s a nice group and everybody is very happy that he’s with us now.”
