For the second consecutive year, Arsenal will open the Premier League season by traveling across the capital to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace.

After placing fifth the previous year, Arsenal is looking to advance and go the extra mile to qualify for the Champions League once more. And when they kick off the new Premier League season by traveling to Selhurst Park to play Crystal Palace on Friday night, they will have the first opportunity to make a statement.

Gabriel Jesus, a £45 million striker, gives them new options in attack, and Oleksandr Zinchenko can play a variety of positions, including left back and midfield. In addition, they have signed Eddie Nketiah to a new contract and purchased Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner.

Mirror Football looks at how Arsenal might line up against Palace in their Premier League debut with a more capable team and lineup options to take into account.

With a new-look defense that might stick around, Mikel Arteta will start the season. Although Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu were both injured in the preseason, Arsenal now has strong competition for both full back positions as well as options.

William Saliba has excelled during preseason, and his poised and elegant demeanor may lead to him replacing Gabriel as the regular partner in central defense. Ben White, who is adaptable and nimble enough to play in a variety of roles, may switch to right back in the early going of the campaign.

Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe are competing for a spot on the left, but the latter is likely to be cut out due to injury. Bukayo Saka is the first choice on the right.

Martinelli will begin the campaign, and competition will rise thanks to £30 million newcomer Fabio Vieira.

Ramsdale; White; Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Jesus make up the likely starting lineup for Arsenal against Palace (4-2-3-1).
