Spanish League leaders Barcelona are reportedly closing in on signing Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba at the end of the league season.
The Catalan club have been superb so far this season, conceding just 13 goals in 29 league matches, yet are hoping to strengthen their defence ahead of competition next summer.
Coach Ernesto Valverde’s men have been tagged as one of the favourites to win this season’s UEFA Champions League this season following their performances in the championship.
While they remain at the summit of La Liga table with 75 points – 11 points ahead of second place Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, the Lionel Messi is said to have been told about the possible transfer move of the Austria international among other players the club is targeting to sign this summer according to Spanish news outfit, Don Balon, as quoted by the Express.
Alaba, 25, joined the Bavarians from Austria Wien in 2009, and he became an instant with the Allianz Arena outfit. He won his first major title the same year. And since then hasn’t stopped winning.
The former Austria Wien youth player, who has spent close to nine seasons in Germany has won 16 trophies, among them is one UEFA Champions League title and a FIFA Club World Cup titles after over 180 appearances in all competitions.
He won the Austrian Footballer of the Year six times on a row, from 2011 to 2016.
