The Dutchman has been the focus of trade rumors all summer long, with Chelsea and Manchester United interested in acquiring the midfielder.

De Jong, a Netherlands international who started for the first time this season in Barcelona's 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the weekend, has stated his desire to stay at the club despite Premier League interest.

He might still leave the Catalan powerhouses, though, and according to Spanish news reports, Bayern Munich has emerged as a possible destination.

The German champions want to sign De Jong on a loan, which is akin to the arrangement Bayern Munich and Barcelona made for Philippe Coutinho in 2019.

With De Jong reportedly the highest earner at Barcelona, a move to Bayern would help Barcelona free up finances to register Jules Kounde, while they could also attempt to sign Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

Bayern Munich are still expected to face competition from United, who remain interested in bringing De Jong to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.
