Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has backed Real Madrid to win the UEFA Champions League trophy this season.

Klopp said that Real Madrid are very strong as a team, adding that they have the experience to win the Champions League again.

The German spoke at his post-match press conference after Real Madrid eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League on Wednesday night at the Santiago Bernabeu.

A late goal from Karim Benzema gave Real Madrid a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 second-leg tie in Spain.

The La Liga champions advanced to the Champions League last eight on a 6-2 aggregate win, having won the first leg 5-2 at Anfield.

Asked if Real Madrid are the favorites to win the Champions League, Klopp said at his post-match press conference: “Yes, based on their experience, but there are very strong teams.
“Whoever wants to win the Champions League will have to beat Madrid and Manchester City."
