The Red Devils are the favorites to take home the Europa League trophy this year, according to former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves.

On Thursday night, Arsenal and Manchester United, both members of the Premier League, earned victories in the Europa League.

Hargreaves pointed out that the Europa League is the only trophy that his former team has a good chance of winning this year and said that winning the tournament would mark a "successful" campaign for the Red Devils under new manager Ten Hag.

At Old Trafford on Thursday night, Scott McTominay's late goal gave Manchester United a 1-0 victory over Omonia Nicosia.

“This is one of the trophies they should try and win,” he said of the Europa League on BT Sport. “I think they’re one of the favourites, for sure."

"There are other trophies." The Premier League is obviously unrealistic; we saw that against Man City.

“But I think if they can finish in the top four and win a trophy, it would be a great debut season for Erik ten Hag.”
