Middlesbrough forward Chuba Akpom is up for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season award.

Akpom is the overwhelming favourite to win the prize, having topped the Championship’s scoring charts with 26 goals.

The Nigerian-born forward has already won two Player of the Month awards this season.

Coventry’s Viktor Gyokeres and Burnley’s Josh Brownhill are the two other players nominated for the award.

Boro’s boss, Michael Carrick, is also in contention for the Manager of the Year award.

Winners will be announced at the 2023 EFL Awards evening on Sunday, April 23.
