Chelsea Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy Has Reportedly Rejected A New Contract Offer From Chelsea
Mason Mount and Mendy's new contracts are the Blues' top priorities right now after reaching an agreement on a new six-year deal with Reece James.
While there is hope that Mount and the club will reach an agreement on a new contract, Mendy's contract talks are proving to be more challenging.
Despite criticism this season for his errors against Leeds United and West Ham United, the Senegal international's contract with the Blues is set to expire in June 2025, and the club is still committed to extending it.
The Evening Standard claims that Mendy has already turned down a Chelsea offer because he was given less favorable terms than backup goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
While Kepa reportedly earns £190,000 a week, Mendy is believed to be one of the lowest earners at Chelsea after agreeing to his contract when he signed from Rennes in 2020.
As well as tying Mount and Mendy down to new deals, Chelsea are also keen to resolve the futures of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, who both have less than 12 months remaining on their contracts.
