Chelsea is looking to bring in a new number-one goalkeeper for their new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, this summer and is exploring a deal for Porto keeper Diogo Costo, who is also a target for Manchester United.

The Blues have been in the market for a new starting goalkeeper due to concerns over both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the first set to move to Saudi Arabia imminently.

There had been suggestions that Pochettino was happy to stick with Kepa and invest transfer funds into other areas of the squad instead.

But according to the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Chelsea has a concrete interest in Costa and is looking into ways of securing a deal for him.

Porto is adamant Costa will not be sold unless his £64.5 million release clause is paid in full, with that price tag potentially making him the second-most expensive goalkeeper in history, behind Kepa.

Chelsea’s Premier League rival, Manchester United, are big fans of Costa and have scouted him extensively, but Porto’s stance on the £64.5 million fee has proved to be a rather significant obstacle.

However, Chelsea is willing to pay the £64.5 million fee but is hoping to convince Porto to accept the figure in three installments of £21.5 million.

The report added that the first installment would be paid now, with the next two coming in the subsequent two transfer windows.
