Chelsea have been paired with Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16, a draw that will take Chelsea back to the stadium where they lifted the European title in 2012.
The knockout round draw was made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday morning and pitted the eight group winners against eight runners-up. Chelsea were not able to face Valencia, who were in our group, while country protection at this stage of the competition also prevented Chelsea from being drawn against either Manchester City or Liverpool.
Bayern topped Group B with a 100 per cent winning record, beating Tottenham home and away, and averaging four goals a game.
As group runners-up, Chelsea will play at home first, with the Stamford Bridge tie scheduled for 18, 19, 25 or 26 February. The second leg will be away on 10, 11, 17 or 18 March. Kick-offs are at 8pm UK time. Further information on dates will be announced shortly.
The draw in full is:
Borussia Dortmund vs Paris Saint-Germain
Real Madrid vs Manchester City
Atalanta vs Valencia
Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool
Chelsea vs Bayern Munich
Lyon vs Juventus
Tottenham vs RB Leipzig
Napoli vs Barcelona
