Manchester United legend Gary Neville has said Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku were “useless” as Chelsea lost 3-0 at Brighton on Friday night.

The Blues did not have a single shot at target in 90 minutes of football at the Amex.

Goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Yakunba Minteh (brace) saw the hosts record a second win over Chelsea in five days.

Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, said: “I think Chelsea, pound for pound, should be able to do what Rutter and Welbeck are doing.

“Nkunku and Palmer are very good players but they were very poor tonight. These two are very talented players. I thought they were useless as a pair tonight.

“This is where their team needs them and they really need to turn up.”

He added: “Nkunku and Palmer, I didn’t see them make one forceful run in behind the Brighton defence.

“Brighton’s defenders waltzed through that game tonight.

“The Brighton players made runs in behind all night. It is simple.”

Chelsea remain fourth with 41 points, with 14 fixtures left.
