The Spain and Manchester City ace David Silva has officially announced that he will no longer represent Spain at international level, this was made known through his verified twitter account yesterday.

The 32 year old player who has 125 appearances and 35 goals for La Roja in his international career since 2006 decided to retire from international football after a woeful performance from the La Roja team in the just concluded FIFA world cup.

It should be noted that, Silva was part of the squad that helped Spain to win their first World Cup title in 2010, and also played a part in back-to-back European Championship triumphs in 2008 and 2012.

The resignation's letter that he posted on twitter reads "It is not easy, after everything I have experienced, to sit down and write this letter,". "There have been days and weeks of reflection and analysis to make the decision to finish my time in the Spain national team. Without a doubt it is one of the hardest decisions in my career."

With this, it means Silva has decided to call it a day with his country and focus primarily on his club career.
