Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has hinted that Frenkie De Jong could leave Barcelona for Chelsea this summer.
Neville was reacting to a social post that claimed “Chelsea are reportedly hoping to “hijack” Manchester United’s move for Frenkie de Jong."
He quoted the tweet and replied: “I was in Miami when Barca were there playing two weeks ago and I was told (third-hand) De Jong preferred staying at Barca or Chelsea or London."
“There wasn’t a concrete source, but this follows that thought.”
It is understood Chelsea would be ready to include two players in their bid to sign De Jong.
The Blues hope offering Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta will help them “hijack” Manchester United’s move for the 25-year-old.
