AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has revealed that Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur stopped him from signing Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.
Mourinho was coach of Tottenham between 2019-2021 before leaving the London club for Roma.
According to him, Tottenham did not back him to sign Min-Jae when the player was playing for Fenerbahçe.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager also described Min-Jae as a top player.
This is coming before Roma’s Serie A 2-1 loss to Napoli on Sunday night.
“I wanted to sign Kim Min-jae when I was at Tottenham." "I had some FaceTime calls with him—oour bid was €5 million, Fenerbahçe wanted €10 million for Kim and for Tottenham, and that wasn’t possible at that point,” Mourinho was quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying.
“Now look at Kim and his level; he’s a top player.”
