Giorgian de Arrascaeta's two first-half goals helped Uruguay gain the upper hand before intermission.
Both of the South Americans' goals came via Suarez, who served as their chief architect.
But the best moment of the half was when the former Liverpool and Barcelona forward nutmegged Ghana striker Inaki Williams.
The Black Stars need at least a draw to have a chance of progressing to the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
