The German Football Association (DFB) has announced that German national team players will receive an incredible €400,000 for winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The DFB's leadership and the team's representatives, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Mueller, Joshua Kimmich, and Ilkay Guendogan, were able to come to an agreement on the nearly half-million bonus.
The title-winner bonus has increased from €350,000 for the previous competition in 2018. The players received bonuses totaling €300,000 each after Germany won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
One of the favorites to win this year's World Cup, Germany is eager to redeem themselves after their disastrous showing at the 2018 World Cup, where the four-time champions were eliminated in the group stages.
The German national team has been placed in Group E for this year's World Cup along with former champions Spain, 2014 World Cup underdog Costa Rica, and Asian powerhouse Japan.
“We had intense discussions in a good and constructive atmosphere,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf following a meeting with team representatives Manuel Neuer, Thomas Mueller, Joshua Kimmich and Ilkay Guendogan.
