Potter's Amex Stadium contract reportedly included a release fee that new Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are believed to have met in exchange for Brighton allowing the Blues to speak with their manager.

The aspirational US owners of Chelsea are committed to putting a manager in place at Stamford Bridge for the long term.

The coach, who was born in Solihull, is anticipated to complete his Chelsea contract in time to take charge of Saturday's Premier League trip to Fulham.
