Former Crystal Palace Chairman Simon Jordan criticized England manager Gareth Southgate for leaving Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold out of his team for Monday night's UEFA Nations League match against Germany.

Jordan stated that he does not comprehend the reasoning behind Southgate's decision to leave Alexander-Arnold out of his team to face Germany.

Given that Reece James, Kyle Walker, and Kieran Trippier are currently ahead of him in the hierarchy, Alexander-Arnold has recently lost Southgate's favor.

Since his debut in June 2018, the 23-year-old has only appeared 17 times for the Three Lions.

Jordan insisted in a talkSPORT interview that Alexander-Arnold has the offensive skills to merit a spot in the England team and that he provides attacking options.

He gives you quality moving forward and attacking options, according to Jordan. But when you compete in high-level tournaments, you'll face teams with players who are similar to you and can attack you. And all of a sudden, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s strengths are one thing, but his weaknesses become the thing you’ve got to contend with. "
He added, “Now, leaving him out of the squad, I don’t understand the logic of it." I don’t understand the methodology he is trying to deploy. I do understand why he does not get to the side at times.
“I do understand that when you put him in against top-class opposition that are going to ask as many questions of you as you will ask of them, then suddenly he’s become a weaker link." You should be able to defend it. You should be able to see the danger. You should be able to be aware of circumstances; you should be alive to them. "
