After Roger Federer announced his retirement from tennis, tennis legend Rafael Nadal gave an emotional tribute to his friend and rival.
Federer announced his retirement from competitive tennis on Thursday in a touching social media post.
Federer's final ATP competition will be the upcoming Laver Cup in London.
Nadal responded by expressing his sadness over Federer's decision to retire.
The Spaniard said he would see Federer in London and wished him happiness.
In a series of tweets, Nadal wrote on Twitter: “Dear Roger, my friend and rival. I wish this day would never come. It is a sad day for me personally and for sports around the world.
It’s been a pleasure but also an honor and privilege to share all these years with you, living so many amazing moments on and off the court.
For now, I truly wish you all happiness with your wife, Mirka, your kids, and your family, and I hope you enjoy what’s ahead of you. I will see you in London. @LaverCup.”
