Thierry Henry, a legend of Arsenal, has revealed that Zinedine Zidane, a legend of Real Madrid, has been waiting to manage the French national team.
Henry insisted that it makes perfect sense for Zidane to succeed Didier Deschamps, the current France coach, in the near future.
Since his second departure from Real Madrid last year, Zidane has not held a managerial position.
After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired from Manchester United in 2021, the Frenchman declined an offer to take over as the club's head coach.
Zidane was heavily linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in the past.
Asked about the prospect of Zidane heading to Juventus, Henry told CBS Sports: “I’m not going to go there. I think he is waiting for the national team." So I’m not going to go there.
“I don’t think he will go there [Juventus]. I think he is waiting for one thing and one thing only, and that is the national team. "
Henry continued, “You won three Champions Leagues with Real Madrid. Why are you going to bother with other clubs? You can have the national team. I wouldn't. "
He’s been linked with a lot of clubs and it never happened. I don’t think Zizou would want to do it. I can see him waiting for the national team and it makes total sense. "
