Rangnick, despite being connected with the Austrian national team post, has stated he will become a consultant at Manchester United.
Prior to their 1-1 tie with Chelsea on Thursday evening, news of the German's new role with Austria surfaced.
After being offered the post, he is expected to take the leadership of the Austrian national team.
The revelation has sparked widespread worry among United supporters, who are concerned that the interim manager would not follow through on his pre-arranged plans to shift into a consulting role when new manager Erik ten Hag takes over in the summer.
Rangnick did not discuss his new job with Austria, but he did indicate clearly that he would have room for another job, assuring fans that he would be remaining on.
“I can also confirm that I will definitely continue at the end of the season in my consultancy role,” Rangnick said.
“I didn’t say I would be a big part of things moving forward, but we have definitely agreed now about the content and also the time of my consultancy role."
So far, Erik and I haven’t spoken, but this will hopefully and probably happen in the future. I am more than willing and happy to help change things for the better.
“It would leave space for another job. That’s what we agreed to start with in November last year.”
