Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a major update on the possible return of Lionel Messi to Barcelona.
Messi leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Barcelona has become a hot topic in Europe in recent months.
Most recent reports suggest that Barca are now willing to embark on a squad-wide wage cut to facilitate the return of their legend.
Romano said that the Catalans are open to exploring all possibilities for signing their former captain.
The football transfer expert explained that it is possible that the Catalan giants are willing to make sacrifices to lure their finest ever player back to Camp Nou, but added that he was not clear with the reported squad salary slash as of now, adding that “it’d be a long process and not something easy, so we have to see what they will decide to do.
“For sure, the club will look at possibilities in order to be able to make a bid for Messi; a lot will depend on financial fair play,” he said, according to Caught Offside.
“It’s no secret that they’re facing financial difficulties, and Messi’s presence could provide a much-needed boost to their sponsorships and investments.”
