Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted his team is not in contention for the Premier League title.
The Reds fell 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal with a 3-2 loss at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring after only 58 seconds before Darwin Nunez equalised.
Bukayo Saka then restored the Gunners’ advantage on the stroke of half-time.
Substitute Roberto Firmino drew the Reds level again eight minutes into the second half, but Saka handed the Gunners a vital win, converting a 76th-minute penalty following Thiago Alacantara’s tackle on Gabriel Jesus.
“We’re not in the race." Imagine I would sit here and think ‘we are nearly there,'” Klopp said.
Liverpool have a game in hand on the top three sides, but have recorded just two wins from eight league games this season.
