Manchester United is set to part ways with defender Raphael Varane this summer after declining to activate a contract extension, leaving the 31-year-old as a free agent at the end of the season.
Varane, who joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in 2021, has played 93 games for the club. Despite signing a three-year deal with an option for an additional year, United is opting to offload Varane as part of their squad rebuilding efforts for the upcoming 2024/2025 campaign.
In an emotional social media post, Varane expressed optimism for the future despite a challenging season, citing the club's new ownership and their clear strategic plan. He also announced plans to bid farewell to the Old Trafford faithful during the last home game of the season, anticipating it to be a poignant moment.
