Cristiano Ronaldo, a star for Manchester United, has been charged with "improper and/or violent conduct" in connection with an incident in which he appeared to knock a fan's phone out of their hand.

Following Manchester United's 1-0 loss to Everton in April of last year, the incident took place at Goodison Park.

Social media users posted video of the Portugal international appearing to knock a young fan's phone out of his hand as he walked off the field and into the tunnel.

Police issued a warning to Ronaldo regarding the incident in August, and he later apologized to Jacob Harding, 14, on his Instagram account, acknowledging that his emotions had gotten the better of him in the wake of such a negative outcome.

In response to the charge, United has declared that they will support their player.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been charged with violating FA Rule E3 for an incident that happened following Manchester United's Premier League game against Everton FC on Saturday, April 9, 2022, according to a statement from the FA.

It is alleged that the forward’s conduct after the final whistle was improper and/or violent.
