Martin Odegaard, a midfielder for Arsenal, has explained why he has been in the best shape of his life this year.

The Norwegian claimed that discussions with the club's coaching staff were the reason for his exceptional performance for Arsenal this season.

After Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract was terminated, manager Mikel Arteta gave the club's captain's armband to the 24-year-old former Real Madrid midfielder.

The Norwegian international has been crucial to the Gunners' attempt to win the league this season, contributing five assists and eight league goals in 17 games.

Odegaard credited his performance to persistent conversations with Arsenal's coaches and to his own diligence.

Speaking to Viaplay, the Gunners captain said, “It’s about how we play and my role in the team and my focus; I’ve worked on it a lot."
