Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has named Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as the best coach in the world.

Messi, who spoke in China, said Guardiola deserved to win the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League trophy.

The Argentina World Cup winner arrived in Beijing, China by private jet over the weekend and was greeted by hundreds of jubilant fans.

Messi will lead Argentina to face Australia in a friendly next week.

Speaking to the Chinese media on a Chinese stream platform about Guardiola, the 35-year-old forward said: “Yes, and he deserved to win the Champions League.
“He is the best coach in the world.”

Guardiola coached Messi during their time together at Barcelona before the Argentine left the Catalan club for Paris Saint-Germain.
