The new date is a week shift from the September 29 previously agreed by NFF Congress on Thursday. This shift in date, is due to the fact that the previously agreed date; Sept 29 by the NFF Congress last week in Edo state clashes with the CAF Congress that will hold in Morocco. The new date for the election will be 3 days before the resumption of the adjourned case of the NFF leadership's crisis between Chris Giwa and Amaja Pinnick.

However, it is not clear if the shifting in date will affect the initially scheduled venue, because at the Congress, the election is scheduled to hold in Katsina state.
