Giovanni Di Lorenzo, the captain of Napoli, is adamant that against AC Milan, the Partenopei can win without their star forward, Victor Osimhen.
On Wednesday (today), the first leg of Luciano Spalletti's team's UEFA Champions League quarterfinal matchup will take place at the San Siro.
The game will be played without Osimhen, the top scorer for the Serie A leaders.
After suffering a muscle injury while representing Nigeria internationally late last month, the 24-year-old is currently out of commission.
Last month, Osimhen was not present when Napoli was destroyed 4-0 by AC Milan in a league game.
There are worries that the Parthenopeans might experience a similar fate this time, but Di Lorenzo has assured that the team won't suffer because of his absence.
“We know that Osimhen is a great player, and he is very important for us, but we don’t depend only on one player. We have full confidence in the available players,” Di Lorenzo was quoted by Tutto Napoli.
“So we are calm from this point of view." "I repeat, Osimhen is important for us, but he won’t be there in this match, and therefore, we will face them with the players we have.”
Osimhen has made five appearances for Napoli in the Champions League this season, with four goals to his name.
