Jadon Sancho, according to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, should have been selected for the Three Lions team instead of Jack Grealish from Manchester City, according to England manager Gareth Southgate.
England will play in their final two games before the 2022 FIFA World Cup during the upcoming international break.
Due to Sancho's exclusion, Southgate's team released a 28-man squad on Thursday for England's Nations League matches against Italy and Germany.
Scholes has since questioned Southgate's choice to leave Sancho out of the England team.
He said on BT Sport (as quoted by Football 365): “Gareth’s picked his players for a reason, possibly from previous squads."
“I think he [Jadon Sancho] probably deserves to be in over Jack Grealish at the moment.”
Scholes added, “He [Sancho] scored a good goal against Liverpool and showed signs of that tonight [against FC Sheriff]. He’s better when he’s coming inside and linking plays. "
