Enyimba received congratulations from Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro for winning a record-breaking ninth Nigeria Premier League championship.

After Rivers United held The People's Elephant to a 1-1 draw on Sunday night at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, Rivers United was declared the 2022–23 NPL season's victor.

The Aba Giants last won the championship in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2019.

Peseiro was present at the venue throughout the competition.

The Portuguese also sent kind words to all the teams that took part in the competition.

“Congratulations to the new champions, Enyimba FC, for the ninth title win in their history.
Congratulations also to the other 5 teams that participated in the Super Six play-off,” Peseiro tweeted.
