Erik ten Hag referred to Cristiano Ronaldo and other Manchester United players leaving Old Trafford prior to the conclusion of Sunday's friendly match against Rayo Vallecano as "unacceptable.
"
United finished their preseason workouts against another Spanish team the day after sending a potent team to Oslo to take on Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Ronaldo, United's star player, made his preseason debut and played the first 45 minutes as Rayo and United drew 1-1 at Old Trafford.
Due to a family matter, the 37-year-old was unable to participate in the preseason tours of Thailand and Australia. The fugitive forward was seen leaving Sunday's game with Diogo Dalot.
Ten Hag did not speak to the media after the match but has now expressed his annoyance to broadcaster Viaplay.
“There were many more (as well as Ronaldo) who went home,” the United boss said.
“This is unacceptable for everyone,” he said. “I tell them that it’s unacceptable, that we are a team, a squad, and that you should stay until the end.”
Ten Hag will take charge of his first competitive match as United manager on Sunday, when they face Brighton at home in the Premier League.
