Newly appointed Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, wants to bring Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Ajax’s Jurrien Timber to Old Trafford this summer.
According to 90min.com (via The Express), Ten Hag wants De Jong and Timber to have their medicals at Man United done as soon as possible.
Both players have previously worked under the management of Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax.
However, Ten Hag now wants the pair to become his first two signings at Old Trafford prior to the 2022-23 season.
De Jong and Timber are currently part of the Netherlands setup as they prepare to compete in the UEFA Nations League this month.
Man United would ideally want to compete in their medicals by the time their national duty comes to an end.
However, this does not mean that Manchester United have struck a deal with Barcelona and Ajax for De Jong and Timber, respectively.
Barcelona will only sell De Jong for a high price of at least £65 million. Otherwise, they would be happy to keep hold of their midfielder.
Ajax, on the other hand, are expected to ask for a fee of around £40 million for Timber.
