Number one tennis player, Simona Haleps of Romania has won her first grand slam today in the French open, defeating Sloane Stephens to win the French Open.



It’s all about patience and ward work, Simona has been sitting on the number one spots for some months after the long absence of the regular number one, Serena Williams. Halep has initially lost her first three major finals before defeating Sloane Stephens, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday in Paris.

Clijsters, here in Paris as a television analyst, is among the many who offered encouragement to Halep over the last year as she tried to rebound from her latest Grand Slam disappointments.
