After Antony assisted his team in defeating Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag praised the Brazilian.
On Sunday against Everton, Antony not only scored the Red Devils' equalizer but also actively contributed to the defense, made a few dribbles, and engaged defenders.
Despite having two goals in his first two games, the Brazilian was still criticized by commentators who claimed he had fallen short of fans' expectations after joining for £85 million from Ajax.
Erik ten Hag referred to Antony's performance as the best since he joined United from Ajax in his remarks following United's victory at Goodison Park.
“I was quite confident that he could straight away have an impact, and in the first games he has had his good moments, he has had his bad moments, but I think today he played his best game so far,” Ten Hag told reporters.
“Now you see his running behind, and that is what I expect from him. Now I see his pressing, his defending is much better than in the first games, and he has his dribbles, so I am happy with his performance. I am happy with his development.
But I know there is still huge improvement and I know in the club and also in the Premier League that he needs to challenge. So he has to go every day to get the best of him.
