Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy has described the club’s latest decision in the transfer market as nothing but catastrophic.
He suggested that the departure of Mason Mount and other top stars, especially the homegrown players, partly caused the club to be rocked’ following Roman Abramovich’s departure.
Manchester United is on the brink of announcing the signing of Mount, a Chelsea academy graduate, in a move that would see the England midfielder end his 18-year spell at the club.
The Blues have agreed to sell Mount for £55 million plus £5 million worth of add-ons to their Premier League rivals.
And former Chelsea player Cundy is gutted by the decision.
“I’ve watched Mase [Mason Mount], and I’ve followed his career. I do Chelsea TV so I’ve been lucky enough to document his career over the years,” Cundy said on talkSPORT
“He’s done what everyone else at Chelsea football club and the academy thought he’d do.
“They all predicted this. Something went catastrophically wrong with the club between him and them. I’ve got no idea how it happened.
“What I’m saying is that he’s developed into a fine young footballer.”
