It seems as though moving across the Atlantic Ocean isn't enough to save footballers being asked who's better out of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Wayne Rooney was presented with the age-old debate on an American radio show on Monday.
The Manchester United legend made his DC United debut at the weekend after completing his summer switch from Everton. Rooney came on as a second-half substitute and impressed in just over half an hour on the pitch, notching an assist as his new side beat Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1. Appearing on the Pardon My Take podcast on Monday, Rooney was asked who's the better player between Ronaldo and Messi. "Messi," replied Rooney instantly, surprising the radio hosts with the speed of his answer. "Yeah I think I've said this before but they're both probably the best two players to ever play the game. "I just think Messi is, in my eyes, the greatest ever." The answer may surprise fans given Rooney and Ronaldo played together at United for five seasons, winning three Premier League titles and a Champions League.
