Granit Xhaka, a midfielder for Arsenal, expressed his regret to his teammates during the intermission of their Saturday 3-1 victory over Tottenham.
In order to win the North London Derby and keep the top spot, Xhaka's team scored the third goal.
The Mail claims that the Swiss international apologized for his part in Tottenham's equalizer, which Harry Kane scored against the flow of play because he didn't clear his lines.
Xhaka accepted responsibility for his role in the lead-up to the penalty even though it was centre-half Gabriel Magalhaes' lunge on Richarlison that led to the spot kick.
Xhaka would later atone for his error after slotting home once Spurs had gone down to ten men.
