According to Ed Sheeran, his song "PERU" with Fireboy DML is the biggest and best-selling Afrobeats single.

Peru, a new rendition of Nigerian singer Fireboy DML's popular song from the year 2021, was released in December 2021. With the same producer, Shizzi, the new version continues to be produced and features British singer Ed Sheeran.

The music video for Peru reached 10 million views on YouTube within 7 days of its release, making it Fireboy's most popular and trending music video. The song debuted at the top of UK Shazam's charts in January 2022, making history for Nigerian music.

The British singer-songwriter mentioned that his collaboration with Fireboy DML, an Afrobeats artist from YBNL, is the best-selling record in the UK and the biggest Afrobeats record ever in a recent interview with Ed Sheeran. Some Nigerians, particularly Wizkid FC, who believe "Essence" is the biggest Afrobeats record, weren't pleased with this revelation by @teddysphotos.
