Big Wiz may have lost both of his Grammy nominations, but his name continues to appear on the Billboard music award list.

At the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, Wizkid's Essence, featuring Justin Bieber and Tems, has been nominated for "Top R&B Song." It was nominated alongside "You Right" by Doja Cat and The Weeknd, "Heartbreak Anniversary" by Giveon, "Peaches" by Justin Bieber ft. Daniel Caesar & Giveon, and "Leave The Door Open" by Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars, Anderson. Paak).

Essence made history by being the first African song to be nominated for a Billboard Music Award. This isn't Wizkid's first Billboard nomination; in fact, it's his eighth overall. He continues to hold the record for the most nominated and won African musician (3).

The Billboard Music Awards show will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The NBC telecast will emanate from the Las Vegas Emerald Venue on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET, airing simultaneously on the west coast at 5 p.m. The show will also be streamed live on Peacock. No host has been announced yet.
