Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, a prominent businessman and socialite, was granted bail of N10 million with two sureties in like sum by the Federal High Court in Lagos State on Wednesday.

The decision followed Cubana Chief Priest's plea of not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the naira currency during his trial. Appearing before Justice Kehinde Ogundare, the celebrity bar man faced three counts related to the alleged misuse of the nation's currency at a social event, contravening the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

The allegations centered around an incident on February 13, 2024, at Eko Hotel, where Cubana Chief Priest was accused of spraying the naira currency during a social gathering. It was further claimed that he tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 notes issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by spraying them for an extended period of two hours while dancing.

As legal proceedings continue, Cubana Chief Priest's case serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding the integrity of the nation's currency and adhering to relevant laws and regulations.

Stay tuned for further updates on this legal matter as it progresses through the court system.
