Mr.

Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate for the upcoming Edo State governorship election on September 21st, has made shocking allegations against an unnamed senior government official of the Edo State Government. Akpata claims this official orchestrated an attack against him during an interactive session at the University of Benin on a late Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred while Akpata was participating as a guest in an interactive session organized by the University's Senior Staff Club. However, the event was violently disrupted, leading to chaos within the school premises.

In a viral video released by Akpata yesterday, he stated that a senior lecturer, who was injured during the attack, is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Benin. Akpata vehemently denied allegations that his security personnel shot a student of the University, dismissing such claims as "lies from the pit of hell."

Akpata asserted that a detailed report of the incident and those involved will be submitted to the police for appropriate action at the appropriate time. He expressed frustration at the disruption of the event, emphasizing that the attack was orchestrated by hoodlums claiming to be students of the University of Benin.

Furthermore, Akpata accused a senior official of the Edo State Government of deploying these hoodlums to disrupt the event, suggesting political motives behind the incident. He issued a direct message to the official, challenging them to confront the truth of their actions.

As the election season unfolds, Akpata condemned the use of violence and intimidation tactics by politicians, urging for a peaceful and transparent electoral process. He emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values and ensuring the safety of all individuals involved in political activities.

The incident at the University of Benin serves as a reminder of the challenges and tensions surrounding the political landscape in Edo State. Akpata's allegations highlight the need for accountability and transparency in the lead-up to the governorship election.
