Mr. Chukwudi Chiketa, Chief Fire Officer of the Anambra Fire Service, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Onitsha. Chiketa reported that the Anambra Fire Service received a distress call at 1:40 am regarding a fire outbreak at a mini soap factory and plastic waste ground on Amanato Street.

“The state firefighters and a fire truck were deployed immediately to the scene of the incident,” he said. “They fought and contained the fire, preventing it from reaching a nearby four-storey building.”

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but fortunately, no lives were lost. The firefighting team departed the scene at 3:40 am after successfully extinguishing the blaze.
