The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has conducted the rescheduled presidential, senatorial, and House of Representatives elections in 141 units in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The exercise lasted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Daily Post recalls that the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced that the election could not hold yesterday, February 25, as earlier scheduled in the affected areas because the process was disrupted.

When DAILY POST visited the units where elections were conducted, the exercise had started at about 11 a.m. but was marred by voter apathy.

Amarata Primary School field for Ward 06 has five polling units. While Polling Unit 015 had 1152 registered voters, Polling Units 16, 17, 18, and 19 had 750 registered voters each.

At Okaka School Field, Ward 06, Polling Unit 10 had 750 registered voters. A stakeholder in the area, Hon. Ambrose Kwokor said the election had been peacefully conducted without any rancour among all opposing parties.

He commended the federal and state governments for creating such an enabling environment for a smooth voting exercise. He, however, blamed INEC for voter apathy, claiming that a lot of people who came out to cast their votes yesterday didn’t return today due to some circumstances.

At Unit 10, Okaka, the presidential results are as follows:

LP – 64

PDP – 22

APC – 17

The senatorial election recorded the following votes:

APC – 44

PDP – 52

LP –

The outcome of the House of Representatives election is as follows:

APC – 17

PDP – 87

LP – 0
