The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its counterterrorism efforts with the arrest of the wife of a suspected Chadian terrorist, Ahmad Adam Abba, along with two of his associates.

The arrests were announced by the command's spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, during a press briefing held yesterday. The operation is part of the command's ongoing efforts to address security threats following a terror alert issued on January 24, 2025.

According to Kiyawa, the arrests were the result of meticulous investigations and intelligence-driven policing. Among those apprehended were a 42-year-old Moroccan national, Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian accomplice. The suspects were taken into custody after the police recovered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during a discreet operation.

The spokesperson revealed that Ahmad Adam Abba, the primary suspect, is a Chadian national accused of orchestrating the killing of 17 people in the Republic of Chad. Intelligence reports indicated that Abba was planning to establish a terrorist base in Kano before fleeing Nigeria.

Kiyawa emphasized that the arrest of Abba's associates, including his wife, marks a critical step in dismantling the terrorist network. "We have successfully apprehended three of the suspect's associates, including his wife, Jibrin Mohammed, and a Nigerian accomplice. This is a testament to our commitment to neutralizing potential threats and ensuring that criminals have no safe haven in Kano State," he stated.
