A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has strongly condemned the alleged plot to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Eze, who was the former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for backing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. According to him, this support has cost Tinubu the trust of the Niger Delta people.
Eze alleged that the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State persists because Wike enjoys the backing of the Presidency.
"Wike, with the support of the Presidency, is orchestrating a plot to impeach Governor Fubara and install Amaewhule as governor," Eze stated.
He further claimed that Wike is exploiting his alliance with President Tinubu to destabilize Rivers State and derail Fubara’s administration.
"Their ultimate goal is to position their puppet, Amaewhule, as governor to manipulate the 2027 general elections in Rivers State," Eze alleged.
The political crisis in Rivers State continues to escalate, raising concerns over the state's stability ahead of future elections.
