Fatima Umukoro, the proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools in Sapele, Delta State, has allegedly been murdered by her 25-year-old son, Emmanuel Umukoro. The deceased was the wife of Rev. Prince Umukoro, the resident pastor of Victory Family Assembly Int'l (VIFA), a well-known figure in the Sapele community.

Reports indicate that Emmanuel had been struggling with mental health issues, largely due to his prolonged battle with substance abuse. Despite undergoing rehabilitation, his addiction persisted, leading to unpredictable violent outbursts.

The horrifying incident unfolded on Saturday, September 6, 2024, while no one else was home. Emmanuel allegedly attacked his mother with a brand-new axe, killing her in a brutal assault. He then dragged her body outside and set it on fire.

The gruesome act, which took place late in the night, has left neighbours in shock and disbelief. According to some who spoke on condition of anonymity, the scene was described as both horrific and disturbing.

Eyewitnesses reported that the gate of the Umukoro residence was left open around 10 p.m., an unusual occurrence that caught the attention of neighbours and passersby. Upon investigating, they saw flames coming from inside the house with the door left ajar. To their horror, they discovered the charred remains of Mrs. Umukoro, her body burnt beyond recognition.
