Ireland captain Katie McCabe has insisted that her team drew 0-0 with Nigeria’s Super Falcons in Monday’s FIFA Women World Cup tie because they failed to convert their chances during the encounter.
Both the Republic of Ireland and Nigeria played goalless at the World Cup on Monday.
Speaking to RTE Sport after the game, McCabe believed Ireland could have taken all three points against Nigeria in Brisbane.
She said, “We spoke at the start [about wanting] to start the game with a lot of energy.
“To have a lot of possession was really good; it was just about utilizing it in the right areas.
“We did create some good opportunities, and it was disappointing that we did not capitalize on them.”
